Job Summary
Position:
Social Work Assistant 2 (NY HELPS)
at Secure Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (STARC), Oakview, Marcy, NY.
Salary: $63,361 – $80,665 annually (Salary Grade 17). Full‑time, permanent, non‑competitive class.
Workweek: Monday‑Friday, 40 hours, 6 AM – 6 PM. No flextime, overtime, compressed week, or telecommuting.
Travel: 0 %.
Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of individuals with complex behavioral disorders.
Interview clients and families to gather background information.
Prepare case histories and determine service eligibility.
Advocate for clients and assist them in accessing appropriate services.
Supervise Social Work Assistant 1 and direct‑care staff.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a human service field and at least 2 years of social work experience, or Master’s degree in social work with 1 year of specialized experience.
Within State Service: must be on the current Social Work Assistant 3 eligible list or have 1 year of permanent competitive service under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Eligible for non‑competitive promotion if 1 year of permanent service as Social Work Assistant 1.
Background check required; must not be listed on any Medicaid/Medicare exclusion lists.
