Job Summary This position will perform studies on Alzheimer's disease, neuropsychiatric disorders, and the microbiome using transgenic mouse models in Seo laboratory. Tasks include feeding special diets, administrating pharmacological drugs to mice, weighing mice, performing animal behavior tests, and collecting mouse specimens (brain and other peripheral organs) for histology and molecular/biochemical analysis. The role also involves performing molecular biology/biochemical experiments, minor surgical and microscopic procedures, statistical/computational analyses, and sample processing by microtome/cryostat sectioning. The candidate will maintain mouse breeding colonies, observe animals daily for clinical or behavioral signs of illness, provide treatments as directed by veterinary staff, and ensure compliance with safety procedures and required documentation. Responsibilities include data entry, maintaining data files, developing new research techniques, and performing other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Plan experiments independently and develop research protocols while ensuring adherence to scientific principles and federal guidelines.

Conduct studies on Alzheimer’s disease, neuropsychiatric disorders, and the microbiome using transgenic mouse models, including feeding special diets, administering pharmacological drugs, weighting mice, and performing animal behavior tests.

Observe animals daily for clinical or behavioral signs of illness, provide treatments as directed by veterinary staff, maintain breeding colonies, perform genotyping, sacrifice animals, and collect tissues.

Perform molecular biology/biochemical experiments, minor surgical and microscopic procedures, and statistical/computational analyses. Execute sample processing by microtome/cryostat sectioning.

Collect and document research data within relevant guidelines and protocols; publish results in scientific journals. Ensure compliance with safety procedures and maintain laboratory and specimen inventory documentation.

Develop and evaluate new research techniques and procedures. Perform all other job‑related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, social sciences, natural sciences, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area, plus experience in a research or clinical setting.

OR

Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in the same fields, with a minimum of three years’ experience in a research or clinical area.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge : Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases or willingness to learn.

Skills :

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Detail‑oriented with strong organizational and prioritization skills.

Abilities :

Ability to maintain confidentiality, complete work, and meet deadlines.

Ability to work independently with only general supervision.

Willingness and ability to work with research animals.

Shift / Salary / Benefits Shift: Days; Monday – Friday Pay Band: B5 Salary to be commensurate with qualifications within the established range (generally minimum‑midpoint) of the position. Recruitment Period: Until Filled.
