Assist in planning, organizing, and conducting auditing and assessment activities including developing the program and risk assessment, determining scope, conducting extensive research, analyzing various financial data, retrieving evidence and preparing detailed analytical and written reports; perform a variety of professional and technical tasks in support of the assigned area of responsibility.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, public administration, finance, statistics, or accounting; and
Two (2) years of auditing or accounting experience.
Experience in local government operations preferred.
Experience applying government auditing standards, principles, and practices preferred.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of aCity Operator's Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.
Operations, services and activities of an internal auditing program
Procedures, methods and techniques of budget preparation and control
Modern office procedures, methods and equipment including computers
Principles and practices of operational and financial auditing
Principles and practices of accounting and financial record keeping
Principles and practices of program development and administration
Methods and techniques of research, data collection and analysis
Principles of business letter writing, technical report writing, and grammar
Pertinent Federal, State and local codes, laws and regulations
Methods and techniques of internal auditing
Perform multiple audits simultaneously
Recommend and implement goals and objectives for providing auditing services
Interpret and explain City policies and procedures
Allocate limited resources in a cost-effective manner
Evaluate, analyze and report on a variety of City operations
Conduct extensive research on various municipal regulations and policies
Prepare clear and concise reports
Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, and project consequences of proposed actions and recommendations
Review implementation of audit recommendations, goals and objectives
Utilize audit software to conduct work
Provide technical assistance to other City departments
Interpret and apply Federal, State and local policies, laws and regulations
Communicate clearly and concisely orally, in writing, and when presenting
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including but no limited to the Accountability in Government Oversight Committee, CAO, Directors and other program managers
Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
