SEC Reporting Manager
Reports to: Corporate Controller
Position Summary The
SEC Reporting Manager
will lead the company’s external financial reporting and SEC compliance activities for a publicly traded organization. This role will manage a small, high-impact financial reporting function and serve as a key technical accounting resource, partnering closely with the Corporate Controller, corporate accounting, FP&A, and external auditors.
The ideal candidate brings strong hands‑on SEC reporting experience, solid technical accounting knowledge (including revenue recognition under ASC 606), and the ability to operate effectively in a lean, deadline‑driven public company environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the preparation, review, and filing of all SEC reports, including
Forms 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, Proxy Statement, and Section 16 filings .
Ensure compliance with
SEC regulations and U.S. GAAP , including accuracy and timeliness of all external financial disclosures.
Oversee
iXBRL tagging
and filing processes, coordinating with internal teams and external service providers as needed.
Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors and legal counsel related to financial reporting matters.
Technical Accounting
Research, document, and conclude on
technical accounting matters , including
ASC 606 (revenue recognition)
and other complex or non‑routine transactions.
Review customer and vendor contracts to assess accounting implications and ensure appropriate treatment.
Support the implementation of new accounting standards and evolving SEC reporting requirements.
Maintain and update technical accounting memos and accounting policies.
Close Process & Financial Disclosures
Prepare and review quarterly consolidated
cash flow statements , lease accounting entries, and other complex reporting areas.
Assist with the preparation and review of
non‑GAAP financial measures and disclosures .
Support complex and non‑routine areas of the quarterly and annual close process.
Partner with the corporate accounting team to drive process improvements and reporting efficiencies.
Equity & Other Reporting Responsibilities
Oversee equity‑related accounting and reporting activities, including
stock‑based compensation, share repurchase programs, and related journal entries and reconciliations .
Ensure accurate accounting and disclosure of equity transactions in financial statements and SEC filings.
Manage and mentor one
Senior Financial Reporting Analyst , providing review, guidance, and professional development.
Collaborate cross‑functionally with Accounting, FP&A, Legal, Tax, and Treasury teams.
Act as a trusted advisor to the Corporate Controller on reporting, compliance, and technical accounting matters.
Lead or support ad hoc projects as needed.
Qualifications Experience & Knowledge
5–8 years
of progressive financial reporting and technical accounting experience.
Minimum 3+ years
of experience in a national or large regional public accounting firm.
Strong knowledge of
U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements .
Hands‑on experience preparing
Forms 10-Q and 10-K
for a publicly traded company.
Demonstrated technical accounting expertise, including
ASC 606 .
Experience working in a lean financial reporting environment preferred.
Skills & Attributes
Strong technical accounting research and documentation skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Highly detail‑oriented with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Self‑starter with a continuous improvement mindset.
Ability to collaborate and influence across a matrixed organization.
Systems & Tools
Experience with
Workiva
preferred.
Experience with
Hyperion / FCCS
a plus.
Working knowledge of
iXBRL
is a plus.
Education & Certification
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
CPA license required .
