Plant Operator (Open)
Location: Evansville, IN - Retest - Cyl. maintenance
Airgas is hiring for a Plant Operator in Evansville, IN.

Responsibilities
Loads cylinders or containers on vehicles using hand truck or lift gate, and records type and quantity of cylinders.
Examines returned cylinders for surface defects (dents, cracks, burns) and moves cylinders to designated work area.
Removes cylinder cap (if appropriate), inspects valves, connects cylinders to manifold, opens valves to evacuate gas, inspects labels for correctness.
Paint cylinders in accordance with SOP for color and type of gas.
Moves all cylinders to the area designated for retest, repair, or finished product.
Sorts cylinders that come for other locations to help with production.
Ensures cylinders are maintained; removes cylinders requiring maintenance or repair from service.
Reports any accident or injury to management promptly.
Conducts periodic checks of plant for safe and efficient operation.
Operates forklift, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment.
Maintains neat, clean and orderly plant appearance.
Performs mathematical calculations.
Assists with loading and unloading trucks and/or trailers when required.
Assists with inventory, general housekeeping, and helps customers when necessary.
Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; one to two years related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to perform basic arithmetic in all units of measure.
Ability to solve practical problems and interpret various instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to perform heavy work (lifting 25-75 lbs routinely, occasionally 76 to >100 lbs).
Ability to work prolonged standing up to 8 hours; frequent bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, grasping, and repetitive motion required.
Ability to perform occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, crawling, pushing, pulling and finger activities.
Ability to read and comprehend Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
Must be able to safely drive a forklift.
Work Environment The work environment is representative of conditions encountered while performing the essential functions of this job. Exposure to moving mechanical parts occurs occasionally; the noise level in the environment is usually loud.
