The production supervisor position is responsible for supervising shop employees in a manufacturing and assembly environment. This position plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. The Production Supervisor is responsible for maintaining a safe work environment and compliance to company safety Policies. Essential Functions or Responsibilities
Promotes and enforces safety throughout the plant through building a culture of safety (See Safety Responsibilities section below for specific information) Provides daily direction to the production team leaders and team members to ensure the manufacturing of quality products Leads team responsible for Metal Fabrication. Works with Programming, Manufacturing, & other Engineers to actively and continuously improve the Metal Forming processes Conducts daily meetings with production team to pass along relevant information about safety, quality, production, & other plant related communications Ability to understand problems that arise from the production area; and must work with team to develop & implement corrective action Controls workflow to meet deadlines Facilitates training & development of team members / Ensure all Team Members are being trained to standard work Check and manage product specification and adjusts as needed Provide additional resources as needed when necessary at designated lines Works closely with Production Manager to review and improve individual and team performance Ensures production equipment is well maintained and serviced on a timely basis Supports kaizen events Maintains training matrix of team members in Metal Forming Prepares relevant KPIs daily and posts to SQDC board Maintains team member attendance records Approves employee time off requests and manages team member payroll Follows guidelines in employee handbook for progressive discipline Responsible for appraisal & discipline of all team members within team as needed Keeps a positive attitude and encourages positive employee relations Gain knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation as well as plant safety rules to ensure Team Members perform their duties safely and in compliance with all KCC rules and regulations. Safety Responsibilities Ensures that all Team Members perform their duties safely and in compliance with all rules and regulations Take every reasonable precaution for the protection of the employee Hold Team Members accountable for their health and safety responsibilities. Actively discourage shortcuts and enforce safety policies with fairness and consistency Provide continuous on the job instruction in safe work procedures and instruct Team Members on the usage and care of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Assist in accident investigations to identify the root cause in a timely manner and track corrective action for completion of countermeasures Encourage and actively support Team Member involvement in the health and safety program Supervisory Responsibility
This position will help lead the Metal Forming team and be responsible for production matters. Qualifications/Skills
Required
Minimum of a High School Diploma or Equivalent Maintain a great attendance record Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite Ability to respond effectively to inquiries and complaints Safety Minded Ethical Conduct Communication Proficiency Results Driven Initiative Team Oriented Prefer
Bachelor’s Degree is preferred Team Lead or Supervisory experience is preferred Safety/Physical requirements: Stand: Frequently Walk: Frequently Sit: Occasionally Use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls: Frequently Reach with hands or arms: Frequently Climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel – Occasionally Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. – Occasionally Repetitive Motions - Occasionally Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus Follow established safety policies including, but not limited to, mobile equipment, PPE, emergency response, HAZCOM, first-aid response, etc. Other Duties
