Position Summary Reporting to the Director, Corporate Controller, the Senior Corporate Accountant is responsible for day‑to‑day accounting for corporate entities and certain excluded assets. The role supports financial reporting and operational excellence through general ledger management, month‑end/quarter‑end close activities, account reconciliations, and compliance with GAAP and internal controls.

Responsibilities

Prepare monthly bank reconciliations

Process monthly journal entries, including corporate allocations and accruals, and maintain the integrity of the general ledger

Perform monthly/quarterly budget vs actual and month‑over‑month variance analytics, monitor expenses, and provide financial insights to support management decision‑making

Prepare monthly/quarterly reconciliations and other supporting schedules in accordance with SOX requirements

Collaborate with Financial Reporting and Accounting Policy team to record journal entries related to significant non‑routine transactions

Review and record monthly corporate credit card expenses

Review entries and workpapers for accuracy and appropriate documentation, and investigate and resolve discrepancies

Assist with annual budget and quarterly reforecast process, through data entry, analysis, and recommendations

Prepare audit schedules and respond to auditor inquiries to support quarterly and annual audit requests

Record transactions, prepare financial statements and investor reporting packages for selected managed assets

Collaborate with crossfunctional teams, including Accounts Payable, Marketing, Legal, and IT, to ensure timely submission of information and adherence to monthly and quarterly deadlines

What Success Looks Like

Consistently deliver accurate reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analyses within deadlines

Identify and resolve discrepancies proactively, strengthening reliability of financial reporting

Provide clear, data‑driven insights that support budgeting, forecasting, and management decision‑making

Prepare high‑quality workpapers and schedules for smooth quarterly and annual audits

Collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams to ensure timely information flow and adherence to reporting requirements

Demonstrate strong ownership, attention to detail, and commitment to continuous process improvement

Approach challenges with analytical thinking and solutions‑focused mindset

Work closely with team members to implement practical, efficient solutions

Required Skills / Abilities

Strong knowledge of GAAP and corporate accounting principles, with hands‑on experience in monthly and quarterly close processes

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (intermediate) and familiarity with ERP/accounting systems

Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with ability to identify issues, investigate root causes, and develop effective solutions

Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines

Effective communicator (written and oral) who can present financial information clearly and collaborate with cross‑functional teams

Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, contributing to a positive work environment

Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain well‑documented workpapers and reconciliations

Commitment to continuous improvement, process efficiency, and upholding internal controls

Experience with Yardi preferred

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field

CPA or progress toward CPA preferred

2‑3 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally in corporate accounting, public accounting, or a combination of both

Big 4 audit experience and/or public REIT experience preferred

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times

$100,000 - $110,000 a year

Salary is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, job location, size of property where applicable, and/or certifications. In addition to your base salary, ESRT provides discretionary annual bonuses.
