Seneca Resources Company, LLC
A NYC government agency located in Long Island City, NY is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to support financial and accounting operations critical to the agency’s public health mission. The successful candidate will assist with day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely financial reporting in a fast-paced public sector environment. The work location will be fully onsite in LIC for the first few months before becoming a hybrid role. This role is a long‑term contract with the intent of the organization to eventually hire this resource as a full‑time employee of their own.
Pay Rate Range:
$40-$50 W2, depending on experience
Job Duties
Assist with routine accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
Review and process financial transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with agency policies and applicable regulations.
Assist in preparing financial reports, schedules, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
Support audits by gathering documentation and responding to inquiries as needed.
Collaborate with internal teams to resolve accounting discrepancies and support financial operations.
Perform other accounting-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry and reporting.
Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a structured environment.
Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
Proficiency with standard office and accounting software tools.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required).
Minimum of 1+ year of accounting experience in a professional environment.
