Our client, an expanding New Jersey based company, is seeking a Senior Accountant who is ready to take the lead on critical accounting activities and help strengthen the financial foundation of a fast-moving organization. This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys digging into the details, improving processes, and supporting leadership with accurate financial insights.
About the Role As the Senior Accountant, you’ll manage core accounting functions and play a central role in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close. You’ll oversee reconciliations, maintain the general ledger, support financial statement preparation, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of accounting data. This position requires a mix of technical expertise, analytical thinking, and a proactive mindset.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the full reconciliation process for AP, AR, bank accounts, and general ledger activity.
Prepare clean, timely financial reports and communicate results when needed.
Analyze data trends, identify accounting issues, and recommend improvements.
Detect inconsistencies and propose efficiency enhancements across processes and spending.
Review current accounting workflows and suggest system upgrades or procedural changes.
Partner daily with AP, AR, Billing, and Credit teams to resolve issues and streamline operations.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and departmental planning.
Prepare financial statements and support ongoing budget production.
Aid in tax preparation activities and coordinate with external auditors.
Lead significant portions of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.
Document processes, strengthen internal controls, and ensure compliance with GAAP.
Collaborate closely with the Controller on process optimization and reporting initiatives.
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
4+ years of general ledger accounting experience.
Strong command of core accounting principles and GAAP.
Ability to interpret financial statements and evaluate business trends.
Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks preferred).
Advanced Excel proficiency, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.
Exceptional attention to detail and a strong analytical skill set.
