Parks Crew Supervisor
Department Parks & Recreation
Job Summary The Parks Crew Supervisor supervises and manages maintenance staff to ensure efficient operations of park facilities.
Responsibilities
Supervises, manages, and evaluates assigned employees; hires, disciplines, develops schedules; provides training and performance appraisals.
Oversees repairs utilizing heavy equipment and inspects, repairs, and installs public playgrounds.
Meets with contractors regarding repairs to park properties and orders parts.
Assists staff with underground utilities, above grade lights, roof repairs, grading, trenching, snow removal.
Oversees work request process for special event loading/unloading of equipment and assists event setup/takedown.
Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities Monitors performance for a regular group of employees (2 or more full‑time employees) and conducts performance evaluations.
Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s Degree or 2 years of college in building trades preferred. 3 to 5 years experience in construction trades.
Licenses or Certifications
Valid driver’s license
Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) certification within one year of hire.
Aquatic Facility Operator license within one year of hire.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment of building trades; commercial construction and industry standards; HVAC, electrical, plumbing, aquatic facilities; safety and procurement regulations; office practices and administrative procedures.
Skills and Abilities Communicating verbally and in writing; estimating time and materials; monitoring employee performance; operating motorized equipment and hand/power tools; leading projects from concept to closeout.
Ability to Plan and delegate work; train and supervise others; handle difficult situations; work from blueprints; solve problems; present reports; use computer and office equipment; focus on tasks; attend special events; work outside normal business hours; maintain safe manner.
Work Environment Office or indoor environment sometimes; outdoor environment frequently or often; construction site sometimes; vehicle frequently or often; warehouse environment frequently or often; shop environment frequently or often; right of way environment sometimes; aquatic mechanical rooms.
Physical Demands Occasional exposure to environmental conditions and hazards; could exert up to 35 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently; move objects; traverse uneven grounds; climb, balance, operate mechanical equipment.
Hours/Days 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Some evening, weekend, and holiday hours required for on‑call or as required by Parks & Recreation.
Salary Starting salary $28.23/hr – $34.73/hr; commensurate with education and experience. Pay grade 109.
