Responsibilities There's way more to H‑E‑B than our 400+ stores. To support our manufacturing and warehouse campus locations, the H‑E‑B Industrial Facility Services team provides maintenance, repair, and construction in ammonia refrigeration, plant utilities, automated systems, and building services.

As a Maintenance Team Leader I, you will ensure the safety, reliability, and efficiency of our manufacturing and warehouse ammonia refrigeration and steam systems, and lead daily activities related to operation, maintenance, repair, and regulatory compliance of ammonia refrigeration and steam systems.

We’re Looking For

AAS degree and experience, or comparable work experience

RETA‑CIRO certification

What Is the Work?

Ensures the safety, reliability, and efficiency of warehouse and manufacturing ammonia refrigeration and steam systems

Leads daily activities for the operation, maintenance, repair, and regulatory compliance of ammonia refrigeration and steam systems

Collaborates with customers, engineers, and contractors in the design/construction of new industrial facilities and helps establish standard specifications

Administers/maintains the Process Safety Management Program for assigned facilities

Stays current on/researches new technologies related to the business

Maintains knowledge of/complies with current regulatory requirements

Management

Supports strategic goals of Facility Services; makes daily tactical decisions to substantially impact financial and reliability status of facilities

Trains/supervises/directs/motives subordinate stationary operators, assistant operators, and foremen

Creates a team environment; fosters training/development to ensure partners provide quality repairs and superior service; sets an expectation of sustained superior performance

Qualifications

AAS degree plus 3+ years of experience, OR 5+ years of experience as a high‑level technician plus 3+ years of experience as a foreman

5+ years of field experience in mechanical system operations, repair, and maintenance with boilers, chillers, and controls, plumbing, and electrical

RETA‑CIRO certification

Valid driver’s license; clean driving record

Strong written and verbal communication skills

PC skills, including MS Office (Excel, Word) and a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)

Physical and Travel Requirements

Travel by car or plane with overnight stays

Work overnights, rotating schedules, holidays and weekends

Occasionally lift 20 lbs or more; lift and carry 50 lbs

Walk long distances; climb ladders/stairs to gain rooftop access; stand, stoop, crawl; work in hot and cold spaces; maneuver around equipment

Work around industrial facilities, including food, manufacturing, warehousing, transportation, refrigerated

Respond to emergency situations any time of day or night
