Operations Supervisor - Transportation (Supply Chain/Logistics) - 3rd Shift
Penske Logistics is seeking a proven leader with relevant experience to supervise drivers and oversee transportation operations at a single location. The supervisor ensures customer requirements are met while achieving Penske’s goals and objectives.
Position Summary Provide operational leadership to hourly workforce to execute daily tasks including driver deliveries, loading/unloading of trailers, and customer service operations in alignment with company services and cost objectives. Supervise processes, manage performance, take corrective actions, and participate in hiring and customer meetings as required.
Work Schedule:
Overnight Shift – Sun‑Wed 6pm‑6am (flexible during peak season)
Salary Range:
$70,000–$75,000 plus up to 12% performance bonus
Major Responsibilities People
Establish and sustain training and competency for supervisors and associates.
Communicate specific, measurable performance standards.
Interview hourly associates and recommend for hire.
Monitor attendance, productivity, and provide coaching and counseling.
Motivate and engage associates through recognition and team accomplishments.
Operations
Supervise logistics operations—customer service, freight loading/unloading, dispatch, and documentation control.
Conduct team meetings and recommend process improvements.
Provide relief coverage when associates are absent.
Ensure operational compliance and resolve exceptions.
Complete records and reports timely and accurately.
Finance
Maintain compliance with financial policies (MPG, returns, damages).
Understand profitability impacts of decisions.
Manage associates’ hours to minimize overtime and meet productivity targets.
Safety
Align daily activities with the location’s safety strategy.
Provide safety training, feedback, and guidance.
Ensure regulatory and company policy compliance.
Conduct safety observations.
Growth / Customer Experience
Meet and exceed customer goals and objectives.
Communicate Penske’s commitment to customer success.
Identify areas for continuous improvement.
Fleet / Assets
Plan assignments for efficient fleet use.
Ensure associates understand safe equipment operation.
Coordinate vendor and leasing maintenance.
Lead other projects as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Leadership qualities with strong interpersonal skills.
Efficient and independent work with strong time management.
Excellent written and oral communication; active listening.
Problem‑solving, critical thinking, and independent decision making.
Drive process improvement and lead change.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
Ownership mindset with sense of urgency.
High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s preferred.
Full attendance is essential.
Willingness to travel, work required schedule, submit background and drug screening.
Physical Requirements
Read, communicate verbally and/or in writing.
Stand, walk, sit, use hands to touch, handle, reach; occasionally lift up to 25 lbs (12 kg).
Visual requirements: close, distance, peripheral, depth perception.
