Basic Job Functions Principal duties of the successful candidate will include but are not limited to participating in safety and housekeeping activities, assisting with process and product development, troubleshooting upset conditions, using statistical methods and data analysis to help guide decision making, leading safety, quality & efficiency improvement efforts, leading team member training efforts, and working closely with operation and maintenance teams to ensure optimal melt shop performance. The base schedule is Mon-Fri dayshift, but will require nights and weekend work on occasion to support the melt shop team.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, chemical, metallurgical, or comparable engineering field

Preferred Qualifications

Strong statistical knowledge and experience

Six sigma or similar problem-solving experience

Prior QMOS experience

Melt Shop operational experience

Understanding of AMI Smart Furnace application
