The Design Engineer will transform product ideas into functional prototypes and production parts using cost‑effective methods. They’ll continuously enhance designs for better manufacturability, cost efficiency, and functionality.
Key Responsibilities
Create design briefs and research production methods
Refine designs using engineering software such as SolidWorks CAD
Incorporate feedback from manufacturing teams and collaborate with the supply chain for implementation and cost updates
Utilize SolidWorks to produce 3D models, 2D drawings, assembly prints, and Bills of Materials
Conduct thorough peer reviews and optimize product designs
Ensure supplier compliance with design specifications and adjust designs for manufacturability
Maintain detailed drawings and Bills of Materials to ensure consistent quality standards
Coordinate with manufacturing for efficient production and create engineering assembly instructions
Conduct usability tests and refine products based on results
Generate multiple design prototypes using computer‑aided design tools
Assess design solutions against industry standards and regulations
Document the design process and present progress reports to stakeholders
Experience & Education
Requires 3+ years’ experience in designing production products
Background in automotive product development
Proficient in SolidWorks 3D CAD software
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or industrial design
