Cost Accountant I
to join our team and play an essential role in supporting accounting operations, job costing activities, and financial accuracy across the organization. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Accounting, Purchasing, and Operations to ensure accurate financial data and drive meaningful process improvements. What You'll Do
Review receipts for accuracy, including GL coding, taxability, department assignment, and usage verification
Act as a key liaison between Accounting and Purchasing
Review completed jobs and prepare them for closure
Process job close variances and issue materials to jobs
Prepare manual journal entries
Process cash receipts and company credit card statements
Lead budget reconciliations
Lead and complete various month-end account reconciliations
Assist with standard cost updates and annual budget preparation
Support financial audit preparation and R&D studies
Serve as owner for capital projects, property tax processes, and document archives
Maintain general ledger accuracy and support ERP updates (routings, part groups, part classes, etc.)
Back up various Accounting roles and assist with physical inventory coordination
Identify and support process improvements, including documentation, training, and automation
Collaborate closely with the Cost Accountant II on asset disposals
What We're Looking For
Minimum 2-year degree in Accounting
Strong understanding of the general ledger and GAAP
Cost accounting knowledge or manufacturing accounting experience preferred
Sales tax knowledge is a plus
Advanced Excel skills
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines
Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently or within a team
Self-driven, adaptable, and eager to learn
Strong problem-solving and logical thinking abilities
Salary:
The anticipated annual salary range is $60,000 to $70,000 based on education, experience, & demonstrated skills.
Hours Per Week:
40-45 hours
