Accounts Receivable/Student Accounts Specialist I Scope Of Work Accounts Receivable Specialist/Student Accounts, has two primary responsibilities: 1) Provide a high level of customer service to current and former students. and 2) Perform accounts receivable duties including third party billing, payment compliance, and various journal entries

Duties And Responsibilities

Lead staff in charge of completing quarterly student/tribal third-party billing, which includes creating invoices, following all FERPA guidelines, tracking payments, and following up on outstanding invoices.

Enter other fiscal transactions via journal entries; review work for accuracy prior to submission for approval, and make adjusting entries as needed.

Provide a high level of customer service to students, staff, and tribal entities.

Lead staff in charge of all incoming student account related calls, emails, and mail correspondence.

Perform student financial aid and scholarship check distribution in collaboration with Student Accounts Specialist II. Includes entry, review, and corrections on a quarterly and as‑needed basis.

Review and check work for procedure and accuracy; investigate discrepancies and correct errors.

Work with students and other departments as needed to identify funding opportunities to pay for tuition.

Collaborate effectively with Accounts Receivable/Student Accounts Specialist II.

Maintain positive working relationships with tribal, scholarship, and awarding agencies.

Provide backup functions for the Accounting Support Specialist‑Campus Cashier position as needed.

A strong focus on providing a high level of customer service to everyone is expected.

Ability to work in a variety of Microsoft 365 programs, and accounting databases.

Perform other duties as assigned on a cross‑train or back‑fill basis.

Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Graduate or GED

One year of accounting experience, with an emphasis on accounts receivable.

High level of computer software proficiency, particularly in Excel and comprehension of computer knowledge.

Consistent and regular attendance.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate's degree in accounting or related field.

Previous experience working with Native Americans in a college setting or in the community.

Experience with and sensitivity to Native American people and cultural customs.

Must have a current driver's license and a driving abstract that meets employer qualifications for insurability.
