Responsibilities What you get to do every day:
Administer andmaintainPostgreSQL databases on AWS cloud infrastructure using Amazon Aurora and RDS to ensureoptimalperformance and availability.
Monitor database performance metrics and implement tuning strategies including query optimization, indexing, and configuration adjustments.
Execute database migrations, schema changes, and version upgrades using migration tools such as Liquibase, Flyway, orgolang-migrate with minimal service disruption.
Implement andmaintaindatabase backup and restore procedures to ensure data protection and rapid recovery capabilities.
Support ETL processes and bulk loading operations whilemaintainingdata quality and consistency.
Configure and manage database replication,read replicas, andconnection poolingto support application scalability requirements.
Collaborate with development teams to review andoptimizeSQL queries, stored procedures, and database designs.
Troubleshoot database issues, analyze root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Qualifications Clearance Required:
Active TS clearance (with SCI Eligibility) and eligibility to obtain CI Poly **We are not able to upgrade or sponsor clearances**
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience
4-6 years of experience in database administration or data engineering with at least 3 years working with PostgreSQL
Required Skills:
Hands-on experience with Amazon Aurora and/or RDS for PostgreSQL in AWS cloud environments
Working knowledge of PostgreSQL administration tasks including performance tuning (ANALYZE, VACUUM), backup/restore operations, and monitoring
Proficiencywith SQL including joins, subqueries, and basic optimization techniques
Experience with at least one database migration tool (Liquibase, Flyway, Django migrations, or similar)
Familiarity with Linux command line for database administration tasks
Basic understanding of AWS networking concepts relevant to database connectivity and security
Experience with relational database design principles and normalization
Strong problem-solving abilities and eagerness to learnnew technologies
Good communicationskills and ability to work effectively in team environments
Preferred Skills:
Exposure to CTEs and window functions in SQL
Familiarity with pgAdmin4 andpsqlfor database management
Experience with connection pooling solutions (PgBouncer,pgpool-II)
Basic Python scripting skills for automation tasks
Working knowledge of Docker and containerization concepts
Experience with PostgreSQL partitioning strategies usingpg_partmanor similar tools
Background supporting DOD agencies, working on-site in secure spaces
CompTIA Security+ certification
What is ideal?
Exposure toPostGISfor geospatial data
Exposure to infrastructure as code concepts and tools (AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform)
Knowledge of Kubernetes for containerized database deployments
Understanding of database sharding and distributed database concepts
Experience implementing row-level security or other advanced security features
Intelligence Community Experience preferred
