1 week ago Be among the first 25 applicantsThe Early College & Career Connections (EC3) VISTA project aligns with Carl Albert State College’s (CASC) mission of “Providing affordable, accessible, and exceptional education that fosters student success”. CASC also has a long history of partnering with schools and communities in Sequoyah and LeFlore Counties. The VISTA EC3 project will provide career and college resources for students, parents and school personnel in LeFlore and Sequoyah counties. This 3-year initiative increases capacity by aligning with VISTA goals for Economic Opportunity and Education. Four VISTA members will be phased in for each county by the start of the school year in 2025. Anticipated annual impact will be more than 1,000 student-family combinations. VISTA EC3 Associates will contribute to the goals of the project by performing activities such as coordinating volunteer support for career/college fairs, supporting school counselors with ICAP-related resources, connecting school personnel and students with appropriate Career Tech Centers, college admissions staff, or military recruiters. EC3 Associates will match ICAP resources with procedures, policy and language used by these partners. This will help school personnel, students and families better understand career and college options beyond high school, and how to get there. In late October, an EC3 Associate will start in Sequoyah County schools with two more added in November. LeFlore County EC3 Associates begin spring 2025. Experienced educators that understand Career Tech and K-20 models are ideal candidates for EC3 Associate positions. This VISTA project will encourage students to get a head‑start on career and college goals; attending Career Tech Centers or through college credit courses while in high school. EC3 will aid families by providing support mechanisms for concurrent enrollment, financial aid, scholarship applications, internships, workforce placement, military recruiting, and pathways to college degrees.
