Benefits Coordinator
Full-time (1.0) position; anticipated start 01/05/2026; salary commensurate with experience, range $30.00-$36.50/hour (annual equivalent $62,400-$75,920).
Location: District-Central Office, Hopkinton, Massachusetts. Area of consideration: All qualified candidates.
This is the position of Benefits Coordinator. The incumbent carries out responsibilities in benefits administration, such as administering and advising employees on the interpretation of benefit policies, programs, and procedures. The Benefits Coordinator also acts as a backup to the Payroll Coordinator, and will assist with payroll processing as needed.
Duties
Carry out administrative work involved in the benefit functions and maintain related records. Ensure that all benefits programs are carried out in accordance with the district’s policies and procedures.
Advise individuals regarding eligibility and coverage for such programs as health, group life, long-term disability, pension and retirement plans, workers’ compensation, income continuation, and other such programs. Assist employees in enrolling in benefits and group insurance programs. Explain, interpret, and answer questions about the district’s insurance programs to employees and dependents.
Provide information to ensure compliance with COBRA provisions.
Assist in communicating provisions of benefit packages by way of new employee orientations, and annual policy renewal meetings.
Collaborate with the Town’s HR department in creating and carrying out employee wellness programs and initiatives.
Maintain/update employee accrual balances.
Maintain enrollment records and reconcile monthly invoices for all benefit services, including retirement/pension plans.
Assist with processing of bi-weekly payroll, as needed.
Other duties, as required.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
Experience in benefits administration, including medical, dental, long-term disability, life, flexible spending accounts, and other employee benefit plans.
Skill in operating a personal computer and extensive experience with office software, such as the Microsoft Office suite. Experience with commonly used payroll processing software, such as MUNIS, considered a plus.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
High degree of organization to deal with multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Basic knowledge of federal and state regulations that govern benefits administration.
