The hiring decision for part-time faculty involves an academic judgment and shall be determined at Management’s sole discretion.*## **Job Description**Montgomery College’s Office of Disability Support Services (DSS) is accepting applications for a Part-Time DSS Counseling Faculty/Adjunct Counselor at the Rockville campus. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and demonstrates the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner.
Disability Support Services (DSS) Office works with students with disabilities (college-wide) and promotes accessibility, equity and inclusion.
This position may be eligible for telework 1 day a week.

Applications may be reviewed periodically based on the student enrollment needs.** \*\*\** The listing of a course in the schedule of classes as “TBA” does not constitute an assignment.* The hiring decision for part-time faculty involves an academic judgment and shall be determined at Management’s sole discretion.**Duties include but are not limited to:*** Evaluates diagnostic documentation and intake information to determine eligibility for accommodations and services* Conducts initial intake interviews and maintains files to include case notes of on-going contacts* Provides academic, transfer, career and short-term personal counseling;* Provides crisis response and intervention* Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication* Serves as a liaison between MC faculty, external agencies and medical/therapeutic providers and students**Required Qualifications:*** Master’s degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, or related field.* At least one year of experience providing counseling services for students with disabilities.* Experience in crisis response/intervention.* Understanding of availability and function of Assistive Technology.* Demonstrated understanding of the array of clinical and social issues related to disability.* Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship**Preferred Qualifications:*** Understanding and application of
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and Americans with Disabilities Act, as Amended, 2008 in a higher education setting* Understanding of and commitment to a community college mission* Experience working with students of culturally diverse backgrounds* Experience working as a disability specialist/counselor in higher education* American Sign Language ProficiencyFor degrees earned outside of the U.S., a copy of your education equivalency, conducted by a nationally recognized evaluation service, must be included in your application.Employees must live in Maryland or a state where the College has payroll reciprocity (DC, VA, PA, WV, DE, MA).As a condition of employment, the following are required at the time of hire:* Successful completion of a background check and degree verification (if applicable).*If a reasonable accommodation is needed to participate in the job application or interview process, please contact Human Resources and Strategic Talent Management at 240-567-5353 or HRSTM@montgomerycollege.edu.
