We are seeking a Process Safety Program Lead to drive deployment and execution of process safety management (PSM) programs at an operating manufacturing site. This role partners closely with environmental, safety, health, and manufacturing teams to identify process safety risks, implement effective controls, and strengthen site-level process safety performance. The position requires frequent interaction across all levels of the organization and close collaboration with a broader process safety network.

Key Responsibilities

Lead deployment of process safety programs across site operating units, ensuring consistent understanding and sustainable execution.

Partner with site leadership to prioritize and track completion of process safety action items.

Develop and support site and unit-level owners for process safety programs.

Implement risk-based strategies to reduce the site’s overall process safety risk profile.

Coordinate and support site process safety training initiatives.

Facilitate Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA) studies as required.

Lead site implementation of new regulatory and internal process safety requirements.

Ensure site compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and EPA Risk Management Plan (RMP) regulations.

Participate in process safety audits, incident investigations, and follow-up activities.

Engage frontline operations and maintenance teams to improve identification of process safety scenarios and verify effective safeguards.

Develop, maintain, and communicate process safety metrics, including a site process safety scorecard.

Partner with operations and reliability teams to ensure real-time process safety risks are understood and mitigated.

Contribute to continuous improvement of process safety programs through participation in cross-site or enterprise safety forums.

Requirements

10+ years of process safety or PSM experience in chemical, petrochemical, or oil and gas manufacturing environments.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical preferred).

Strong experience applying risk-based process safety methodologies aligned with CCPS principles.

Demonstrated experience in risk identification, assessment, and mitigation leadership roles.

Ability to read and interpret Process and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs).

Proven ability to drive results through influence and cross-functional collaboration.

Strong written and verbal communication, facilitation, organizational, and planning skills.

Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and adaptable in dynamic operating environments.

Preferred Experience

Facilitation of Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) studies.

Facilitation of Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA).

Leadership of incident investigation teams.

Deployment and continuous improvement of PSM programs at the site or enterprise level.
