Position Summary The Buyer procures categories of assigned and sometimes unassigned commodities to maximize value and maintain production schedules. Performs varied and additional administrative tasks in support of all purchasing requirements and responsibilities.
Ideal Candidate

Salary Range $55,000–$80,000
Responsibilities
Evaluates material requirements and determines best sourcing strategy
Places purchase orders and follows up with confirmations and deliveries
Responds to emergency requirements from various departments, including Logistics, Accounting, and Operations
Ensures return material authorizations are completed with vendors on time
Works effectively with vendors and co‑workers to maintain good relationships
Investigates and expands vendor base as appropriate
Education and Experience Requirements
Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience; Bachelor's degree preferred
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a buyer, preferably for an industrial equipment manufacturer
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements
Knowledge of vendor relationship management
Basic knowledge of negotiation tactics with a large base of suppliers
Computer skills including MS Office
Experience using MRP/ERP system
Excellent organization skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Team orientation
Self‑motivated and detail‑oriented
Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and multi‑task on a daily basis
Desire and ability to understand surroundings as well as upstream and downstream operations.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
