Job Description and Duties Under the direction of a Supervising Bridge Engineer (Office Chief of Structure Office Engineer), the incumbent is responsible for supervising and managing staff in the preparation, review, independent quality assurance, and delivery of structure cost estimates and construction working day schedules for bridges and structures, ensuring compliance with all Caltrans policies and guidelines.

Eligibility & Requirements

Eligibility may be determined by your score on the Senior Bridge Engineer exam.

Valid California Professional Engineer license required.

Valid driver’s license required for operating a state‑owned or leased vehicle.

Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) required: 2 pages, single‑spaced, 12‑point Arial.

SOQ must address the following topics in order:

Experience developing cost estimates and working day schedules for structure projects.

Knowledge and experience with bridge construction methods, materials, procedures, tools, and equipment.

Knowledge and experience with reading, interpreting, and applying construction contract specifications for bridges or other structures.

Examples of previous work demonstrating leadership, mentoring, coordination, and organization.

Minimum qualifications verified prior to interview.

Foreign transcripts must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency via naces.org or aice-eval.org.
