Diesel Technician – Ryder System, Inc. Gray, TN Full-time, Permanent

Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Gray, TN.

Pay & Bonuses

Hourly Pay: $25.50 per hour

Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification up to $700

Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 each quarter

Schedule: Monday–Friday, weekends off

Hours: Second Shift 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)

Vocational or Technical Certification, Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications (preferred)

Basic tools required

Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance such as oil changes, brake and tire work

Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience (required, preferred)

Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)

Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire

Must pass a Ryder drug test

Must pass a DOT physical

Must pass a Ryder road testMust pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

Important Note Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check and a road test, and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.

Responsibilities

Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties

Perform standard vehicle maintenance

Perform standard component inspections and repairs

Perform preventive maintenance

Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer when applicable

Identify root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required

Replace defective components as instructed

Perform facility maintenance duties

Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task

Utilize shop management system and electronic documentation available

Work in accordance with federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)

Perform other support duties as required to support operations, including but not limited to Service Island support
