Position Overview We are seeking a proactive Process Engineer who can work independently while contributing effectively in a multidisciplinary environment. The ideal candidate is motivated to make a meaningful impact and confident navigating complex process‑engineering challenges.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and interpret Front‑End Engineering Design (FEED) deliverables, including:

Process design descriptions and requirements

PFDs, P&IDs, simulations, and calculations

Equipment sizing and rating (e.g., distillation columns, pumps, recombiners, LPCE columns, heat exchangers, condensers, valves)

Process specifications and control philosophies

Collaborate with Mechanical and EI&C teams to translate process designs into manufacturable and testable solutions.

Review mechanical drawings and advise on manufacturability and performance.

Support multiple concurrent projects and participate in site visits, domestically and internationally.

Apply working knowledge of ASME VIII, ASME B31.1, and ASME B31.3.

Use CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD) for process flow development.

Contribute expertise in distillation, cryogenics, dryers, scrubbers, and process simulation (asset).

Work with suppliers to ensure equipment meets specifications and project requirements.

Support concept development under guidance of Technical Leads and SMEs.

Prepare detailed test procedures, including FAT documentation aligned with quality standards.

Develop custom unit‑operation models (VB, Python, C#, etc.) and apply chemical‑reaction engineering principles (desirable).

Conduct technical evaluations, testing, data analysis, and reporting.

Liaise effectively with clients, contractors, consultants, and vendors.

Assist with procurement planning, inspections, scopes of work, and risk reviews.

Identify process‑improvement opportunities and support implementation of lessons learned.

Facilitate 2D/3D modeling of complex equipment or skids for fabrication.

Contribute to R&D initiatives.

Lead or support proposal development.

Provide project management support as assigned.

Serve as technical support to the Department Manager and broader team.

Assist with contract negotiations, cost estimating, scheduling, and resource planning.

Prepare client deliverables and present project results and recommendations.

Represent Kinectrics at conferences and industry events.

Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (Master’s or PhD preferred) and

Minimum of 5+ years’ engineering experience in the nuclear or manufacturing sectors, working on medium‑to‑high‑complexity engineering projects.

Demonstrated experience in process‑system modeling and design.

Hands‑on experience with process systems, process skids, panel fabrication, FAT, and commissioning.

Knowledge of ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code (asset).

Experience with tritium or hydrogen process technology is highly desirable: CECE, WD, HPS, ISS, CDS.

Understanding of tritium‑specific design requirements and related instrumentation (ion chambers, liquid scintillation).

Familiarity with gas‑separation methods such as cryogenic distillation and thermal diffusion.

Supplier‑management experience for design, assembly, and manufacturing activities.

Knowledge of CANDU technology (asset).

Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills.

Demonstrated customer focus and experience delivering R&D or project work on schedule and on budget.

Ability to work flexibly across multiple technical domains and within team settings.

Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration required.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. or Canada without visa sponsorship now or in the future.
