Why This Role Matters MissionHires is partnering with a top Jacksonville, FL-based public accounting firm (50 employees) to hire a high-level Audit/Assurance Manager. The firm serves several hundred clients across industries including construction, healthcare, and professional services, with revenues ranging from $1M to $50M. This leader will manage and execute audits, reviews, and compilations, including employee benefit plan audits, ensuring high-quality assurance delivery across a diverse client portfolio.
Responsibilities
Lead, plan, and execute financial statement audits, reviews, and compilations across multiple industries (construction, healthcare, professional services, etc.)
Manage engagement lifecycles: risk assessment, scoping, planning, fieldwork, and reporting
Oversee and review workpapers to ensure compliance with GAAP, GAAS, and firm quality standards
Conduct and manage employee benefit plan audits (e.g., 401(k), pension), including testing and reporting
Supervise, coach, and develop audit staff; delegate tasks and perform timely reviews
Serve as primary client contact; maintain strong relationships and provide proactive advisory insights
Identify accounting, internal control, and process issues; propose practical, value-add recommendations
Coordinate with tax and advisory teams to deliver integrated client service
Ensure timely delivery of client deliverables and manage multiple concurrent engagements
Stay current with accounting and auditing standards; contribute to continuous improvement and firm best practices
What Makes You a Great Fit
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s in Accounting/related field is a plus)
CPA license strongly preferred; alternatively, 5–7+ years of outstanding public accounting audit/assurance experience without CPA
5+ years of progressive assurance/audit experience in public accounting, including supervising teams
Hands‑on experience with audits, reviews, and compilations across small to mid‑market clients ($1M–$50M revenue)
Experience auditing employee benefit plans
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and GAAS; familiarity with internal controls and risk‑based audit methodologies
Proven ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines while maintaining quality
Excellent client communication, relationship management, and project management skills
Proficiency with audit software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word); ability to learn firm tools quickly
Located in or able to work in/relocate to the Jacksonville, FL area (or within reasonable commuting distance)
Salary up to $140K for top candidates (CPA required at this level)
Performance‑based raises with potential to exceed $140K
Hours capped at
55 per week , with any additional hours fully paid
Fridays are flex days
(work from home or half days) for 8 months of the year (May–Dec)
