Job Summary Under general direction, responsible for fiscal control, accounting and reporting of contracts and grants. Provides budget preparation, fiscal analysis, effort reporting, regulatory compliance oversight and forecasting of extramural and department budgets. Works independently as one of the contracts and grants team, handling complex proposals and funding sources. Gathers, manages and analyzes financial data from state general funds, federal and private grants, gifts and other sources. Independently develops pre- and post-award processes and analysis for multi‑year projects. Trains staff on financial and sponsored procedures and policy. Assists the Contract Manager in long‑range financial planning and forecasting. Serves as liaison and department representative to the Office of Research, Accounting and Financial Services, Business Contracts, Extramural Accounting and external agencies.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience in financial analysis, forecasting and strategic planning.
Experience in pre and post‑award research administration and interpreting federal and state contract and grant guidelines.
Leadership and decision‑making to solve problems, evaluate business needs and critical thinking.
Interpersonal and communication skills to interact with Dean’s Offices, campus departments, Principal Investigators and staff.
Organizational skills to manage multiple accounts and meet variable priorities and deadlines.
Critical thinking to analyze complex data and develop meaningful solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with UC Davis accounting, purchasing, travel and business management practices.
Knowledge of GAAP, cost allocation methods, and accounting policies in an academic environment.
