Personal Financial Counselor; Knoxville, TN
Magellan Health is seeking a Personal Financial Counselor to provide comprehensive financial services to military service members and their families at assigned military installations.
In this role, you will deliver one‑on‑one counseling, conduct briefings, provide referral resources, and collaborate with installation leadership to ensure program goals are met.
Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and families.
Assist with spending plans for extended absences.
Develop and distribute financial materials.
Coordinate, publicize, and lead management classes/workshops covering the military lifecycle.
Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
Utilize virtual counseling platforms such as web‑based chat or video teleconference.
Manage duty‑to‑warn situations per DoD protocol.
Communicate with leadership and participate in supervision meetings.
Participate in in‑services/training, quality improvement committees, and other contract activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; an associate degree plus 4 years’ experience or a high school diploma plus 6 years’ experience may be considered.
Minimum 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
U.S. citizen who speaks fluent English; bilingual in English/Spanish if required by contract.
Must obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
Must hold one of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
Salary range: $53,125 – $84,995 annually. Additional short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package may apply.
