Scope of Position Interview and/or review uninsured or underinsured patients (inpatients, outpatient surgeries, observation patients) daily, obtain third‑party billing information, establish payment arrangements, and process financial clearance for Medicaid, HCAP, or Charity programs.
Position Summary The Financial Counselor’s responsibilities include understanding and verifying coverage for outpatient, inpatient, and ambulatory surgery services, providing financial counseling, and recommending third‑party financial assistance programs or payment plans to patients and their families.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 6 months of experience in a healthcare setting and/or revenue cycle department or customer service, OR 6 months in a financial counseling role with demonstrated success.
6 months experience with Microsoft Office (Word & Excel) and general computer and website use.
Proficiency with technologies such as web cameras, check readers, electronic insurance eligibility systems, insurance websites, ACD telephone systems, and workforce management systems.
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Ability to resolve conflicts independently and work as part of a team.
Ability to handle difficult customers in stressful situations; critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
Self‑motivated, dependable, detail‑oriented, highly organized, and accurate.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and follow appropriate escalation procedures.
Experience collecting payments and setting up payment arrangements.
Benefits:
Compensation ranges from $53,125.00 to $84,995.00.
Final candidates are subject to background check and drug screen/physical during the post‑offer process.
