Occupational Summary (Position Objective & Authorities) Objective: Coordinating purchases for one or more purchasing commodities: drafting, validating and deploying the target purchasing policies for one or more commodities in accordance with the needs and objectives of the internal customers (contracting customers). Guaranteeing the attainment of objectives within your scope in terms of gains and service level expected by Safran: through the establishment of a supplier panel, according to the supplier selection and contractualization process applicable in the Group; through compliance by suppliers with their contractual commitments (including operational performance and costs). This position works under general supervision of the Director, Commodity Management.
Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)
Coordinating, drafting and proposing to the purchasing director of your company (or the Group) the target purchasing policy for the commodity concerned.
Coordinating invitations to tender, implementing the supplier selection process.
Negotiating and drawing up contracts with the selected suppliers.
Managing the panel of suppliers.
Managing supplier relations.
Reporting back to the purchasing department of your company or of the Group.
Being the key contact of the lead family buyer (company or Group), when there is one.
Ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations and especially internal standards at Safran.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements
Education & Qualification – A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business or other related field is required or six years of equivalent/related experience.
Work Experience – Technical knowledge; eight (8) years of hands‑on experience working in one of the listed fields with prior purchasing/sourcing experience in positions of progressing responsibility with specific experience managing direct spend of targeted commodities. Ability to map supply chains, present facts to support projects’ value, work with internal stakeholders to overcome objections.
Professional Skills – Operational experience of over 8 years, including experience with suppliers in a structure such as Purchasing, Supply Chain, Quality. Knowledge of development and production processes, project management, configuration management, transverse management, cross‑functional management, analysis, negotiation, industrial management methods, Microsoft Office Suite.
Behavioral Skills – Highly organized, rigorous, goal‑oriented, energetic, enthusiastic, strong ability to manage stress, conviction, analytical mindset, tenacity, perseverance, active listening, time‑management skills.
Desirable Aspects – Bilingual (English & Spanish), advanced degree or certifications (PMP, CSCP/CPM, Green Belt), knowledge of MAPICS ERP, Powerlink, proficiency with Excel, Access, APQP, D&PFMEA, Control Plan, prior experience in textile and cushions commodity.
