Position Summary The Transportation Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing the safe, compliant, and cost‑effective transportation of large, custom‑engineered finishing systems to customer sites worldwide. This role oversees domestic and international transportation operations ranging from small multi‑truck shipments to complex, large‑scale projects involving 250+ truckloads, heavy haul, oversized loads, ocean freight, and specialized carriers.

The Transportation Manager provides leadership to the transportation team, establishes processes and standards, manages carrier and freight forwarder relationships, ensures regulatory compliance, and partners cross‑functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, and Field Installation teams to deliver customer projects on time and in full.

Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management

Oversee the daily workflow, scheduling, and assignments of transportation personnel.

Provide coaching, training, and development to build a high‑performing transportation team.

Conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations.

Address employee relations matters, including discipline and termination, in accordance with company policy.

Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Transportation Operations & Project Execution

Plan, coordinate, and execute domestic and international transportation for large, custom‑built equipment, including flatbed, step‑deck, RGN, heavy haul, ocean, air, and intermodal shipments.

Coordinate complex, multi‑load project shipments in alignment with manufacturing schedules and installation timelines.

Partner closely with Project Management and Installation teams to support job‑site delivery sequencing and constraints.

Import / Export & Compliance

Ensure compliance with all applicable transportation, import/export, customs, hazardous materials, and trade regulations.

Oversee export logistics activities, including documentation, Incoterms, customs coordination, and freight forwarding.

Working knowledge of trade regulations, freight classifications, and country‑specific requirements.

Carrier, Vendor & Contract Management

Negotiate and secure contracts, rates, and service agreements with carriers, freight forwarders, and logistics providers.

Develop/ maintain strong relationships with transportation partners specializing in oversized loads.

Review and manage contractual terms and conditions to mitigate legal and financial risk.

Qualifications & Experience Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree or related experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or Engineering

Minimum of 6–8 years of progressive experience in a manufacturing environment.

Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

Technical & Professional Knowledge

Strong knowledge of domestic and international terminology. Familiar with Incoterms.

Experience with oversized, heavy, or custom‑engineered equipment strongly preferred.

Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and various tools for transportation management.

Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel; proficiency with Word and Outlook.
