Most Promising Places to Work in Community Colleges for 2025 , is seeking a full‑time, grant‑funded Career Development Specialist for DOC Lake Correctional Institution.
Overview In this role you will deliver educational and employability services, including the Compass 100 Hybrid curriculum, for participants housed at DOC Lake Correctional Institution. The position requires cell‑front instruction, assessment administration, and coordination with community providers for pre‑release placement.
Responsibilities
Facilitate employability and life skills programs, administer and interpret assessment tools.
Provide Compass 100 Hybrid and supplemental in‑cell assignments via cell‑front instruction for participants in restrictive housing.
Deliver Compass 100 Hybrid coursework in small‑group settings to participants not in restrictive housing.
Coordinate pre‑release connections with community providers and employers, supporting job search, recruitment, and placement activities.
Report monthly attendance, enrollments, and completion metrics in the Departments of Corrections approved format.
Maintain accurate documentation of services delivered.
Qualifications
Associate’s Degree from an accredited institution or high school diploma with two (2) years of professional experience in workforce development, social services or corrections.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and data entry.
Bonus Points
Associate’s Degree and one year of experience in social services or corrections.
