Job Responsibilities The Payroll & Accounts Payable Manager is responsible and accountable to provide advanced accounting and support, including supervising Accounts Payable (AP), Payroll, and reporting. The manager serves as a backup to payroll and AP, works with the Project Manager to control the general ledger, and supervises the Financial Coordinator in recordkeeping of Fixed Assets. The manager assists the Director of Finance with reviewing and analyzing financial transactions, and the preparation and maintenance of financial information and reports for state, federal, and local agency audits. Performance of analytical accounting to reconcile detailed records and provision of timely, accurate information to department heads are required. In the manager’s absence, the Director of Finance may be represented at meetings.

Other responsibilities include:

Managing Payroll and Accounts Payable Operations, overseeing all functions and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.

Serving as the subject matter expert (SME) for these areas and collaborating on internal and external finance‑related projects.

Performing financial reconciliation and monitoring, working with the Financial Coordinator to reconcile monthly bank statements and all college revenue, reviewing daily bank activity for returns, positive pay, errors, and fraud notices.

Preparing and reviewing accounting reports and transactions, including journal entries for billings, cash transactions, accruals, and cost transfers, and maintaining control of the General Ledger (GL) and Chart of Accounts (COA).

Managing Fixed Assets and Year‑End Close, maintaining accurate records of asset transactions, processing capitalization and depreciation, preparing closing entries, reconciliations, and capital asset reports, and assisting with fiscal year‑end closeout and annual audit.

Supporting internal controls and representing finance leadership, assisting the Director of Finance in maintaining internal controls and implementing automated accounting systems, and representing the Director in meetings or committees as needed.

Minimum And Additional Requirements Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or a related field and professional experience directly related, such as accounting, auditing, finance or commercial lending.

Preferred Qualifications MBA or CPA certification. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the use of an ERP system.
