Position Summary The
HR Manager – Troutville Site
is the senior on‑site Human Resources leader at Virginia Transformer Corp’s Troutville manufacturing facility. The role drives HR strategy execution, employee relations, compliance, workforce planning, and talent initiatives in partnership with plant leadership and corporate HR.
Reporting to the EVP of Human Resources, the HR Manager ensures consistent application of company policies, supports a performance‑driven culture, and acts as a trusted advisor to hourly and salaried employees in a complex manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary HR leader and point of contact for the Troutville manufacturing site.
Partner closely with Plant Manager and site leadership to support operational goals, workforce stability, and culture.
Translate corporate HR strategy into effective site‑level execution.
Employee Relations & Workforce Management
Lead employee relations efforts, including investigations, conflict resolution, corrective actions, and performance management.
Ensure consistent, fair, and compliant application of policies, disciplinary actions, and employment decisions.
Act as a trusted, visible HR presence on the plant floor, supporting both hourly and salaried employees.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA, wage/hour regulations).
Maintain accurate personnel records and documentation.
Partner with corporate HR and legal counsel on sensitive employee matters and risk mitigation.
Partner with Talent Acquisition to support hourly and salaried recruiting needs.
Support onboarding, orientation, and training for new hires.
Assist with workforce planning, succession planning, and retention initiatives.
Compensation, Benefits & HR Programs
Support execution of compensation programs, pay practices, and job architecture in accordance with corporate guidelines.
Serve as a resource for employee questions related to benefits, leave administration, and HR programs.
Support annual performance cycles, merit planning, and engagement initiatives.
Culture, Engagement & Change Management
Champion company values and drive a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
Support engagement surveys, action planning, and site‑level improvement initiatives.
Lead communication efforts related to HR programs, policy changes, and organizational updates.
Reporting & HR Metrics
Track and report HR metrics related to turnover, attendance, discipline, engagement, and compliance.
Identify trends and proactively recommend solutions to leadership.
Support audits and internal reviews as required.
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
5–8+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in manufacturing, industrial, or operations‑driven environments.
Strong employee relations experience with both hourly and salaried populations.
Working knowledge of U.S. employment laws and HR best practices.
Proven ability to operate independently as the senior HR leader on‑site.
Preferred
SPHR, PHR, or SHRM‑SCP/CP certification.
Experience supporting high‑growth or multi‑shift manufacturing operations.
Experience partnering with centralized corporate HR functions.
Exposure to safety, workers’ compensation, and labor relations (union or non‑union).
Trusted advisor mindset.
Strong judgment and discretion.
Clear, confident communication.
Ability to balance empathy with accountability.
Comfort operating in a fast‑paced, changing environment.
