Position Summary The
Hospice HR Coordinator
plays a vital role in supporting the human resources functions of a hospice care organization. This position ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, assists with recruitment and onboarding, maintains accurate employee records, and supports day-to-day HR operations. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of healthcare HR practices, excellent organizational skills, and a compassionate, service-oriented approach aligned with the mission of hospice care.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Onboarding
Assist in posting job openings, screening candidates, and coordinating interviews
Conduct background checks, license verifications, and reference checks
Facilitate new hire onboarding, including documentation and orientation
Ensure timely and accurate credentialing for clinical staff
Employee Records & Compliance
Maintain up-to-date employee files, certifications, and licensures
Track mandatory training, health screenings, and performance evaluations
Assist with audits and ensure compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards (e.g., Medicare, Joint Commission)
HR Administration & Support
Support payroll processing with accurate timekeeping and employee data
Respond to HR-related inquiries and resolve issues with professionalism and confidentiality
Coordinate employee recognition, wellness, and engagement initiatives
Assist with benefits administration and open enrollment processes
Policy & Procedure Support
Help develop, communicate, and enforce HR policies and procedures
Ensure compliance with HIPAA, ADA, FMLA, and other employment regulations
Qualifications Education & Experience
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred
Minimum 2 years of HR experience, preferably in a healthcare or hospice setting
Familiarity with HRIS systems and applicant tracking systems (ATS)
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of HR laws and healthcare compliance requirements
Excellent organizational and time management skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HR software systems
Preferred Qualifications
PHR or SHRM-CP certification
Experience with hospice operations or healthcare accreditation audits
