Diesel Mechanic
Transdev in Bronx, NY is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to bolster our team. This role demands expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines across various vehicles and equipment. As a Diesel Mechanic, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring safety, efficiency, and longevity for our vehicles.
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive compensation package of minimum $35.00 – maximum $48.00 per hour
Vacation: minimum of two (2) weeks

Ongoing company training on state‑of‑the‑art online system utilizing Cummins OEM, Ford OEM and internal training modules
Key Responsibilities
Complete preventative maintenance inspections (PMs)
Complete repairs on defects found during a PM
Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle and equipment repairs including but not limited to brakes, suspensions, engines, and transmissions
Complete repairs on defects noted during daily vehicle inspections (pre‑trip inspections)
Ensure work orders are completed accurately
Qualifications
Valid driver’s license required
At least 5 years of automotive or diesel maintenance & repair employment experience or a combination of technical school education & experience
Mechanic’s toolset
ASE certifications preferred; must be willing to participate in company ASE certification program (training, testing, and bonuses provided)
Subject to DOT drug testing (DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 – no use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana)
Physical Requirements
Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions – 100% of the job is performed outside, often in remote locations
Sit for extended periods (up to 6‑8 hours per day); frequently walk long distances and on sloped or uneven ground
Push and pull objects; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch at ground level
Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing job duties; tolerate exposure to dust, vehicle fumes, and noise
