Hours:
Administrators and Supervisors are expected to devote the necessary time and effort required to properly complete their assigned responsibilities. It is understood that such time and effort may exceed the limits of normal working hours.
Required Qualifications
Certification as a School District Administrator (SDA), School District Business Leader (SDBL) or School District Leader (SDL).
A college‑level knowledge of public sector accounting and finance typically acquired through attainment of an MBA in Finance, Business Administration, or Economics, and a broad working level knowledge of public education finance and support services operations.
Experience
Minimum of 2 years performing accounting, budget, and financial duties, preferably in the field of public education.
Experience implementing systems and processes to support the successful operation of a large organization.

Demonstrated ability using financial analysis, budgeting, and modeling to support strategic decision‑making and long‑range planning.

Basic Function The Assistant School Business Manager will, under the direction of the Executive Director of Budget & Strategic Planning, execute the overall financial strategies for the Greece Central School District. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Assistant School Business Manager will oversee the work of the Senior Budget Technician and will work with the Senior Computer Application Specialist in the development and implementation of the District’s budget. The Assistant School Business Manager provides support to department heads and building leadership in the management and development of operational budgets and works in conjunction with the Executive Director and Superintendent’s Cabinet in the identification of resources necessary to support the District’s Strategic Plan.
Roles and Responsibilities
Supports the Executive Director in efforts to provide the Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Administrative Services, the Superintendent, and the Board of Education with a clear picture of the District’s financial health on an ongoing basis, identifying both opportunities and challenges, and makes recommendations to leverage district resources to achieve its goals.
Serves as primary resource in the development of the proposed budget for the Superintendent and the Board of Education and oversees the preparation of all documents required for budget adoption and the District’s Annual Meeting.
Assures the accuracy of projected revenue and fund balance.
Supports the District’s finance and accounting professionals’ efforts to meet the required functional responsibilities of the district.
Assures the District complies with all State and Federal reporting requirements.
Continually reviews and implements best practices in cash flow management, grant and contract management, forecasting & budgeting, and reporting.
Assists in the development of practices and procedures in response to findings identified in Internal, External, and Governmental Audits.
Develops practices and procedures to assure the District maximizes available revenue streams.
Prepares community budget presentations that build a greater understanding of the District’s operational budget, the opportunities and constraints facing the District, and the initiatives undertaken that balance the educational needs of our students with fiscal responsibility to our residents.
Conducts financial analysis of District labor contracts and develops recommendations that advance the Superintendent’s vision and goals.
Assures the accuracy and timeliness of all BOCES payments as well as charter school tuitions.
Provides support for all Medicaid compliance reporting.
May support District negotiating teams and serve as a member of District Labor Management teams with its instructional and support labor units.
Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director or Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Administration.
