Correctional Captain MCC – State of Missouri
Role Overview:
The Missouri Department of Corrections seeks a Correctional Captain MCC to serve as the assistant to the Chief of Custody or as a shift supervisor in an adult correctional facility. The position includes supervisory duties, inspections, staff oversight, offender management, and emergency command.

Responsibilities
Serve as assistant to the Chief of Custody and/or shift supervisor in an adult correctional facility.
Conduct inspections to ensure Correctional Officers are on duty and attentive; maintain records of officer performance.
Discuss minor adjustment problems with offenders; refer serious issues to specialist staff and promote rehabilitation.
Assume responsibility for facility operation in the absence of higher‑ranking officers and command during emergencies.
Participate on the facility offender disciplinary committee to determine disciplinary measures and investigate infractions.
Serve as a member of the facility classification committee; interview new offenders, assist in assignment, maintain records, and prepare reports.
Direct inspections and searches of offenders, living quarters, and other areas of the correctional facility.
Exercise discretion in daily tasks and emergency situations; conduct training sessions for corrections personnel.
Minimum Qualifications
Four or more years of experience in the custody of adult criminal offenders in a city, county, state, or federal facility, with at least one year as a Correctional Lieutenant with the Missouri Department of Corrections.
High school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.
Physical examination may be required to meet the physical standards of employment.
May be required to possess a valid vehicle operator’s license.
Additional Compensation
$2.00 per hour shift differential for duties performed between 12:00 pm and 5:00 am at a 24/7 congregate care facility.
$0.75 per hour maximum security stipend for full‑time work at a qualifying facility.
$1.00 per hour restrictive housing stipend for assignment to a regular post within a restrict housing/segregation unit.
