JOB SUMMARY The HR generalist, with the direction of the Human Resources Director, will provide service to customers; staff & leadership, job applicants, auditors, and others by processing payroll, updating total compensation data and records, managing benefits administration, maintaining employee files, helping to manage job applicant flow, administering leaves of absence, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing licensure and credentialing recordkeeping, and assisting the Director in assuring that all employees are supported and empowered to serve Stars students and caregivers. The Generalist should grow in competency to the extent they can back‑up the Director and possibly provide for succession.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Process bi-weekly and any special payrolls by ensuring the receipt of correct, complete, and timely time & attendance (T&A) data, updating record changes, troubleshooting issues with managers and payroll vendor, and validating inputs prior to releasing payroll.

Maintain secure, compliant, and current employee files, including separate HIPAA, I-9, and background files. File paper documents and scan electronic documents.

Assist with open enrollment, as well as new benefit enrollments, by working with brokers and other vendors and providing one‑to‑one help to employees.

Manage Stars’ use of applicant tracking system (ATS), posting open jobs most effectively, consulting with hiring managers, guiding and corresponding with job applicants to enhance their experience and win talented people for Stars.

Administer use of third‑party job posting sites, evaluate results, and utilize efficiently.

Administer new employee onboarding program to ensure a smooth, welcoming, and efficient first three months for all newly hired people.

Assist with running and maintaining iCoris and letters of suitability, including tracking of a variety of credential expirations.

Maintain staff required documents and mandatory training documentation.

Receive and handle employee Incident/Accident Reports, notify Workers Compensation carrier as appropriate, support claim process, and help facilitate return to work.

File and track progress of workers compensation claims.

Respond to unemployment claims and data requests. Consult with Director on cost savings and claim mitigation opportunities.

Advise managers and employees on the availability and use of statutory leaves of absence and work with TPAs and State on filing and recordkeeping.

Draft and maintain applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Assist with building evacuations and evacuation drills.

Assist with special projects within and without HR.

Other duties reasonably associated with the position as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to pass CORI and DEEC suitability screens and medical fitness documentation requirements.

At least three years of Human Resources experience. Preference for five years.

Experience processing payroll on one or more major platforms, including T&A, report writing, and HRIS.

Proficiency with Microsoft suite.

Some knowledge of licensing or credentialling.

Demonstrably sound judgement exercised collaboratively.

Clarity of written and verbal English.

Ability to keep work organized and accurate and to meet deadlines.

Confident and persuasive presentation skills.

Record of increasing professional responsibility and autonomy.

Interest in high quality customer service and in championing the organization.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Ability to assist with building evacuations and evacuation drills.

Ability to bend and twist in the course of normal office activities.

Ability to travel between Stars facilities occasionally.
