Within our Retail locations, we bring this promise to life with heart every day and our Pharmacy Technicians (Technicians) play a critical role in supporting our pharmacy teams to consistently deliver on our brand promise. As a Technician, you will support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within your store. Technicians are often the first point of contact to assist our patients and customers to deliver an exceptional experience. Technicians assist the pharmacy team to ensure that pharmacy operations run smoothly, our patients’ prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately, and we are providing caring service that exceeds patient expectations.

Technicians operate as part of the pharmacy team through consistent application of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices, and effective communication. Throughout their shifts and in all customer and colleague interactions, they demonstrate genuine care and contribute to a safe and inclusive culture where all people feel valued and empowered.

Once in role, Technicians are required to complete a rigorous company training program, satisfy all registration, licensing, and certification requirements, and may have duties restricted until all requirements are fulfilled.

Responsibilities

Follow all company SOPs at each workstation to help Pharmacists manage and improve patient health.

Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.

Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, offering immunizations and other services, and solving or escalating patient problems.

Complete basic inventory activities such as accurately putting away medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, waiting bin inventories.

Contribute to a high‑performing team, embrace a growth mindset, seek feedback, and expand clinical and technical knowledge.

Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, and travel to stores in the market as needed.

Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and CVS policies ensuring patient safety and privacy.

Deliver additional patient health care services (immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and off‑site clinic staffing) where allowed.

Immunization Support (Optional)

Complete additional licensure and training requirements to obtain Technician Immunizer status.

Educate patients about vaccines and refer questions to the Pharmacist‑on‑duty.

Monitor for, and respond to, adverse reactions; report per public health requirements.

Review, collect, track, and document patient information for each vaccine.

Monitor and manage vaccine supplies.

Required Qualifications

Comply with all state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing practice of pharmacy, including age, education, licensure/certification. If no minimum age, must be at least 16 years old. If no minimum education, must have a high school diploma, equivalency, or be enrolled.

State‑level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state.

Essential Functions

Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.

Complete required training within designated timeframes.

Attention and focus: concentrate, pivot quickly, confirm prescription info and label accuracy, ensure patient safety.

Customer service and team orientation: assist people friendly, read patient reactions, respond appropriately.

Communication skills: understand verbal/written communication, active listening, ask questions, avoid interruptions.

Mathematical reasoning: solve problems such as calculating total tablets, days’ supply, bottle counts.

Problem resolution: identify challenging interactions and choose best course of action.

Physical demands: mobility, lifting, reaching, typing, visual tasks, occasional lifting up to 20 lb.

Complete any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.

Preferred Qualifications

1–3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.

Experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.

Ability to work in the home store and across the market to meet business needs.

Compensation & Benefits Weekly Hours:

Full time Pay Range:

$18.50 – $28.50 per hour (base rate; varies with experience, location, etc.)
