Job Purpose and Summary Within our Retail locations, Pharmacy Technicians play a critical role in supporting pharmacy teams to consistently deliver on our brand promise. As a Technician, you will support the pharmacy team in ensuring operations run smoothly, prescriptions are filled promptly, safely and accurately, and patients receive caring service that exceeds expectations.

Responsibilities

Follow all company SOPs at each workstation to help Pharmacists manage and improve patient health.

Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.

Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, offering immunizations and other services, and resolving or escalating patient problems.

Complete basic inventory activities, including putting away medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, and waiting bin inventories as directed.

Actively seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge and contribute to a high‑performing team.

Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including voluntarily traveling to stores in the market to work shifts as required.

Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles; adhere to CVS policies regarding patient safety, controlled substance dispensing, recordkeeping, and privacy.

Deliver additional patient health‑care services (immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and, where allowed, staffing off‑site clinics) where supported by training and certification.

Support immunizations (where applicable):

Complete additional licensure and training required to obtain Technician Immunizer status.

Educate patients about vaccine importance and refer questions to the on‑duty Pharmacist.

Monitor and report adverse reactions and collect necessary patient information for documentation.

Track and manage vaccine supplies.

Required Qualifications

Compliance with state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing pharmacy practice, including age, education, and licensure/certification.

State‑level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state.

Essential Functions

Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.

Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe.

Attention and Focus

Concentrate on tasks over time, pivot quickly between tasks, and confirm prescription accuracy.

Customer Service and Team Orientation

Help people in a friendly manner and respond appropriately to patient reactions.

Communication Skills

Use verbal and written communication effectively; practice active listening and appropriate questioning.

Mathematical Reasoning

Use math to calculate tablet counts, day’s supply, and packaging for prescriptions.

Problem Resolution: Identify challenging interactions and select the best course of action.

Physical Demands

Remain upright, lift, scan, bag, and reach items up to 20 lbs; perform repetitive finger motions and maintain visual acuity.

Perform additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.

Preferred Qualifications

1‑3 years of previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.

Experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer‑service setting.

Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations.

Anticipated Weekly Hours 29 hours

Time Type Part‑time

Pay Range The typical pay range for this role is $16.00 – $27.00 per hour.
