Required Education Accredited Degree: ADN. No experience required.

Required License/Registration/Certification Active Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license, Temporary Work Permit (TWP), Provisional License, or active compact state RN license in good standing, plus American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification valid for at least 6 months after employment date.

Physical Requirements Essential functions include the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50‑100 pounds daily and 25‑50 pounds frequently; stand, walk and sit for long periods; exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, or injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments.

Shift Must work three 12‑hour night shifts (7 PM‑7:30 AM) weekly (36 hours). Weekend and holiday work may also be required.

Job Summary The primary responsibilities include providing total, comprehensive, continuous and patient‑centered care: assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties for nursing care technicians; and adhering to university policies and federal, state and local regulations. The role supports collaborative efforts among nursing staff and physicians to improve communication and patient outcomes.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities Knowledge of Maslow’s eight basic human needs and Gordon’s Functional Health Patterns framework, as well as Swanson’s Caring model; superb direct patient care and critical‑thinking skills; basic computer navigation and internet skills; professional communication with patients, families, co‑workers and physicians; strong organizational, prioritization and delegation skills; motivation, pro‑active advocacy; teamwork; and ability to work independently.

Preferred Education / Experience BSN and at least 1 year of RN experience.
