Nurse Clinical/UKHC / 7P / TRAUMA 6-100 UB
Location Lexington, KY
Salary Range $28.00-39.10 per hour
Shift Three, 12‑hour night shifts (7 PM—7:30 AM), 36 hours per week; weekend and holiday work required.
Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50‑100 pounds daily and 25‑50 pounds frequently; stand, walk, and sit for long periods; exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments.
Job Summary Provide total, comprehensive, continuous, patient‑centered care: assess, document, plan, implement, teach, develop, and evaluate a comprehensive nursing plan of care; deliver direct patient care; ensure patient satisfaction; train and delegate duties for Nursing Care Technicians; adhere to university policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local regulations; collaborate with nursing staff and physicians to enhance communication and expected patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
Assess, document, plan, implement, teach, develop, and evaluate comprehensive nursing plans of care.
Deliver direct patient care and ensure patient satisfaction.
Train and delegate duties for Nursing Care Technicians.
Adhere to university policies and procedures and federal, state, and local regulations.
Collaborate with nursing staff and physicians to improve communication and patient outcomes.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Knowledge of Maslow’s eight basic human needs, Gordon’s functional health patterns framework, and Swanson’s caring model.
Superb direct patient care and critical‑thinking skills.
Basic computer navigation skills and knowledge of the internet.
Effective professional and respectful communication with patients, families, coworkers, and physicians.
Strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills.
Motivated, proactive, confident advocate for patients and families; team player with open, honest communication.
Required Education ADN.
Preferred Education BSN + at least 1 year RN experience.
Required Experience No experience required; 1 year RN experience preferred.
Required Licensure / Certification Active Kentucky RN license, Temporary Work Permit (TWP), provisional license, or active compact state RN license in good standing; AHA Basic Life Support certification valid for at least 6 months after employment.
