Guided by knowledge of the basic principles of nursing based on biological, physical, and psycho‑social sciences, the RN utilizes judgment supported by evidence and nursing theory in the delivery of nursing care. Provides, coordinates and/or delegates nursing care and manages resources in the delivery of care for patients, the family of patients and the community, with the goal of attaining, maintaining and restoring optimum health.
Education Required
Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Associate’s degree holders will be considered but must obtain a BSN within three (3) years of employment
Graduate of a professional nursing program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN)
Current license to practice registered nursing in the State of Ohio
Experience and Training
PRN RN’s must have at least one year of recent experience in the area of practice.
One year of related RN experience required for weekend‑option positions.
Additional related previous experience and/or preparation may be required for specialty units.
Skills, Competencies and Qualifications
Full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients; manual and finger dexterity; eye‑hand coordination.
Standing and walking for extended periods.
Corrected vision and hearing within normal range.
Ability to work under stressful conditions or irregular hours.
Exposure to communicable disease, body fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other hazardous conditions common to a clinical environment.
Maintain current Basic Life Support certification; new critical‑care, progressive‑care, medical‑telemetry, PACU, and ED nurses must complete Advanced Cardiac Life Support within six months and maintain it. RNs hired into ACLS areas are expected to have ACLS certification upon hire or complete within six weeks of hire.
Population‑Specific Competency
Additional education or certifications may be required for specialty areas (e.g., PALS, NIH, Non‑Violet Crisis Intervention, etc.).
Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self‑respect, dignity and diversity.
Physical Demands
Heavy: Exerts 50‑100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25‑50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10‑20 pounds of force continuously to move objects.
Salary & Benefits $33.75/hr - $53.00/hr (base salary exclusive of bonuses or differentials). Factors such as years of experience and geographic location are considered. The range listed is full base salary. Hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical.
