Inpatient Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN)

Duration:
1 year contract with the possibility of up to 4 additional 1 year extensions
Shift Schedule:
12-hour shifts
Day: 07:30 AM – 08:00 PM
Night: 07:30 PM – 08:00 AM
Weekends and federal holidays required (alternating preferred)
How many shifts needed per month:
Approximately 13–15 shifts per FTE
Credentialing / Onboarding time:
6 weeks to 8 weeks
License:
Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license (any U.S. state or territory)
Certifications:
AHA Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) (includes CPR)
ACLS (required for emergency/critical response situations)
Experience Needed:
Minimum 2 years inpatient psychiatric nursing experience (Must have worked in setting within the last 6 months)
Special Skills Needed:
Behavioral health and psychiatric assessment
Crisis intervention and de-escalation
CIWA and detox monitoring
Medication administration and monitoring
Patient safety and risk management
EMR documentation
Responsibilities:
Provide direct inpatient psychiatric nursing care
Monitor and manage psychiatric and medical emergencies
Administer medications and treatments
Coordinate care with interdisciplinary mental health teams
Transport patients as needed
Maintain accurate documentation per VA policy
Misc:
Must be able to work with COVID-positive and PUI patients
Federal holiday coverage required
No travel or remote assignments
