Position Overview Virginia Western Community College is a two‑year public institution operating under the Virginia Community College System. The college is located in southwest Roanoke, VA, and serves the Roanoke, Salem, Roanoke County, Craig County, Franklin County, and southern Botetourt County region.
We are accepting applications for daytime Clinical Instructors for our Registered Nursing Program. Immediate positions are available in Long Term Care, Pediatric, Mother‑baby, and Medical/Surgical disciplines.
Work Schedule: 9‑12 hours on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
Part‑time Clinical Instructors are assigned on a course‑by‑course, semester basis as needed. Instructors are expected to maintain currency in their nursing practice, teaching disciplines, and nursing education trends.
Responsibilities
Deliver instruction to students in the specified clinical areas (Long Term Care, Pediatric, Mother‑baby, Medical/Surgical).
Maintain current credentials, certifications, and professional development activities.
Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback.
Collaborate with faculty and program staff to develop and assess curriculum.
Assist with emergency response activities as required by the state or institution.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
Minimum two years of experience as a registered nurse with a strong clinical background.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work with students of diverse backgrounds and varying abilities.
Master’s degree in Nursing strongly preferred.
Prior teaching experience in a pre‑licensure RN program desired.
Experience in Mother‑baby, Medical/Surgical, or Pediatric clinical settings strongly preferred, but other areas considered.
