Title:

Medical Assistant/Secretary – NHMP Danbury Cardiology Schedule:

40 hours per week, variable 8‑hour shifts between 7:45 am–5:15 pm Sign‑On Bonus:

$2,000 (External Hires Only)

Responsibilities

Greets patients, brings them from the waiting room to the clinical area, and performs all necessary intake activities; documents vital signs, current medications, allergies, and verifies EMR details.

Transcribes patient information into the record, including demographic, medication, social and medical histories.

Provides clerical support—prepares and organizes patient charts, completes paperwork such as disability forms, and scans necessary patient information.

Performs EMR Orders Reconciliation per the assigned task list.

Maintains a clean and stocked examination area; performs environmental rounds on a weekly/monthly basis.

Prepares patients for scheduled visits by ensuring gowns, clinical paperwork, supplies, and educational materials are ready.

Conducts in‑office testing per provider direction and coordinates outside ancillary services.

Collects, prepares, and processes specimens; logs results in the accession book and reconciles in patient records.

Maintains inventory, cleans, and tests medical equipment; fills out logs as required.

Coaches and educates colleagues on procedures and techniques.

Performs pathology and other audits as assigned.

Demonstrates practice‑based competencies for in‑office surgical procedures when applicable under RN direction.

Engages with patients and colleagues in accordance with Western Connecticut Medical Group service excellence standards.

Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED.

New or experienced graduate of a Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, or EMT program, or 3+ years of related medical office experience.

Basic medical knowledge and terminology.

Proficient in obtaining accurate patient vital signs.

Minimum of one year of clinical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

CPR certification (preferred).

Bi‑lingual ability (preferred).

Salary Range $18.82 – $34.50 per hour, based on years of relative experience.
