Recreation Therapist, CF- Central California Women's Facility (CCWF) The California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) invites applicants for the position of Recreation Therapist (RT) at Central California Women's Facility (CCWF), located in Chowchilla, CA (Madera County).

Term: Limited‑term 12 months (may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent). Salary Range: Base pay starts at $9,159 (subject to adjustments under the Personal Leave Program 2025). Job Description Under the general direction of the Senior Psychologist (CF) or Supervising Psychiatric Social Worker I (CF), the Recreation Therapist develops, implements, and evaluates therapeutic recreation programs for patients within California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation institutions. Key responsibilities include:

Instructing and motivating patients in individual and group recreation therapy sessions.

Monitoring and documenting treatment progress.

Collaborating with other healthcare providers to integrate recreational therapy assessments into treatment plans.

Maintaining order and supervising patient conduct to safeguard safety.

Qualifications

Education: Equivalent to graduation from a recognized college with a major in recreation or recreation therapy, including supervised field work.

Experience: Demonstrated ability to conduct therapeutic recreation programs in a correctional setting.

Other: Ability to adhere to CCHCS policies, maintain professional conduct, and comply with required documentation standards.
