As a Histotechnician - MOHS under general supervision, you will serve as a lead technician for the Mohs lab ensuring compliance with OSHA and CLIA policies. Produces high quality slides for Mohs surgeon(s). Typically reports to the Site Manager with clinical oversight by the Mohs surgeon(s).

Primary Responsibilities:

Demonstrates full competency in Mohs frozen section preparation - mapping, labeling, grossing, inking, embedding, sectioning, staining and cover slipping

Demonstrates full competency in permanent section preparation - grossing, labeling, processing, embedding in parrafin, sectioning, staining and cover slipping

Prepares, performs and troubleshoots special stain solutions

Performs specimen handling, storage, preservation and identification

Coordinates, maintains and documents the maintenance of specialized equipment.

Performs, evaluates and records established quality control and quality assurance procedures. Documents corrective actions

Ensures the lab meets all OSHA and CLIA requirements and maintains accurate records of all reportable information. Creates new policies as required

Researches and manages the use of safe chemicals and equipment throughout the Mohs lab

Researches and trains other staff members on biohazard and pharmaceutical waste

Cleans and sterilizes instruments

Assists with surgical prep, bandaging, patient discharge and exam room turnover

Trains new personnel in Mohs Histology procedures and techniques

Practices all safety measures utilizing proper PPE

Maintains an uncluttered and disinfected work area

Orders supplies for the lab and unit

Organizes waste pick up

May be re-deployed to an alternative site or main lab when the Mohs surgeon is out of the office

Mentors junior MOHS Histotechnicians as needed

Required Qualifications:

Certified Histotechnician (HT) through the American Society for Clinical Pathologists (ASCP)

2+ years of experience working in a MOHS surgical lab cutting fresh tissue for MOHS

Knowledge of OSHA and CLIA requirements

Good hand eye coordination and the ability to work with delicate instruments and automated equipment

Demonstrated ability to prioritize and work independently as a strong contributing member to a cohesive surgical team

Demonstrated ability to perform accurate, reliable and high level work quickly and under pressure

Demonstrated abilityto communicate well verbally and in writing

Preferred Qualification:

Associates degree (AS)

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $20.00 to $35.72 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
