Registered Nurse II PRN- Children's After Hours and Specialty Clinics (North Charleston)
MUSC Children’s After Hours and Specialty Clinics are located at Summey Medical Pavilion in North Charleston. We are a pediatric outpatient clinic that falls under the Shawn Jenkin’s Children’s Hospital at MUSC. During the day, we host a variety of pediatric subspecialists such as pediatric orthopedics, cardiology, and pulmonary, among others. In addition, we provide a walk‑in After Hours Care, which is a direct extension of our pediatric emergency department to serve our community during the hours when most pediatricians are closed.
Clinic Hours
Specialty clinics operate Monday–Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
After Hours Care operates Monday–Friday 3:00 pm – 10:00 pm and Saturday–Sunday 12:00 pm – 7:00 pm.

Job Summary / Purpose Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse II provides individualized, goal‑directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results.
Minimum Training and Education Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred. RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date. Refer to policy A141 for more details. A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse is required.
Licensure, Certifications, Registrations Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
Physical Requirements Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors and outdoors in temperature extremes, from elevated areas, in confined spaces, from kneeling positions, bending at the waist, twisting at the waist, squatting, pinching operations, gross motor activities with fingers and hands, firm grasping, fine manipulation, reach overhead, repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, using lower extremities for balance and coordination; ability to lift and carry 50 lb unassisted, lift objects 50 lb from floor to 36 in unassisted, lift from 36 in to overhead 25 lb, exert up to 50 lb of force, vision (20/40 corrected in one or both eyes), hearing acuity, good peripheral vision, perception, ability to deal effectively with stressful situations, work rotating shifts, overtime as required, latex‑safe environment, maintain tactile sensory functions.
